Simply, Live

One of the baijis was explaining their policy of not accepting birthday cards, that they prefer the $2-$5 we would spend on a card be a donation that would go to the Nepal earthquake victims.

They've been there and understand firsthand the needs they have. In that light, a card is frivolous.

As for gifts, they will always say they don't need anything, that they have all that they need (which is very little). In the same breath they will say, "And yet, I live like a king."

Funny, and true.
